Applied/Practitioner Survey Methodology & Field Enumeration
My 2017 proposal to teach a multicultural "University Course"--a flagship initiative of the Provost's office--was selected and that in Spring 2018 I team-taught "Rhythm of Change: African Politics and African Music" with Grammy-nominated, renowned ethnomusicologist Gregory Barz. In the class, we explored what we call the "coextensive moment" between music and politics and how they influence each other across dimensions of identity, political competition, conflict, and globalization in Africa. We offered the course again in Spring 2019.
